Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor)
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word or Google Docs file format
  • The text is 1.15 spaced; uses an 11-point Book Antiqua font; foreign language terms are italicized, rather than underlined (except with URL addresses)
  • Minimum word count of 4,000 words and maximum of 6,000 words (including abstract and reading list)
  • Reading List taken at least 15 references. The percentage of primary references, namely journals, is at least 70% of all references, with the provision of publishing the last 10 years, using APA Styles
  • Presentation of manuscript plagiarism up to 25% using Turnitin (plagiarism checker application). Attach the proof file at the submission file column
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines and Manuscript Templates

Author Guidelines

Journal of Health Law and Ethics

A peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Law of Hang Tuah University twice a year in March and September. All papers submitted to the journal are in Indonesian (English is allowed). This journal was created as a forum for academicians, researchers and practitioners to publish original research articles or review articles. The Journal of Health Law and Ethics is available in an online version. The scope of articles published in this journal reviews various topics in the field of Health Law and Ethics which include Health Law, Maritime Law, International Law, Criminal Law, Civil Law, Constitutional Law, Public Health Law, Public Health Ethics, and Jurisprudence.

Policy Overview

Submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by a board of editorial team and peer reviewers who are experts and competent in relevant research fields. After going through the review process, the Managing Editor will inform the author about the acceptance, rejection or need for revision of the manuscript.

Open Access Policy

The journal provides immediate open access to its contents on the principle that research freely available to the public supports greater global knowledge exchange.

Writing Format

The number of words in the manuscript is a minimum of 4,000 words and a maximum of 6,000 words (including abstract and reading list). The order of the manuscript is as follows: Title, Abstract and Keywords in English and Indonesian versions, Introduction, Research Methods, Analysis and Discussion Results, Conclusion and Reading List.

Main Title of Manuscript

The following main headings should be provided in the manuscript while preparing. Main headings, and sub-headings should not be numbered in the manuscript:

  • Title

   The title of the article is written in 12 pt Book Antiqua Bold and no more than 15 words.

  • Author

  • Abstract

The abstract should be clear, concise and descriptive. This abstract should provide a brief introduction to the problem, objectives, accompanied by research methods as well as research results. The abstract should be written in English and Bahasa Indonesia with Book Antiqua 11 pt format, minimum 150 words and maximum 200 words.

  • Keywords

Keywords are organized alphabetically and must have at least 2 keywords and a maximum of 5 keywords separated by semicolons (;).

  • Introduction

The introduction should be clear and set out the issues to be discussed in the paper. At the end of the paragraph, the author should end with an explanation of the legal issue or problem formulation to be researched.

  • Research Methods

The research method is written descriptively and should provide an explanation of the research methodology used. This method is optional, only for original research articles.

  • Analysis and Discussion Results

This section is the most important part of your article which must contain the object of study, structured, systematic, and comprehensive analysis.

  • Conclusion

The conclusion contains a description that answers the research objectives by not repeating the abstract or only describing the research results. Provides a straightforward and firm explanation of possible applications and/or suggestions related to research findings and is made concisely and clearly in one paragraph/aline.

  • Reading List

All publications cited in the text should be included as a list of References, organized alphabetically by author. The Reading List taken is a minimum of 15 references. The percentage of primary references, namely journals, is at least 70% of all references, with the provision of publishing the last 10 years. References at the end of the manuscript must be written in APA (American Psychological Association) Citation Style.

Writing reference sources is written in the form of a body note consisting of (Author's First Name, Year of Publication: Book Page) writing examples (Peter, 2019: 55). Reference citations are given in body notes with the format.

Plagiarism Check

Manuscripts to be published will be checked for plagiarism using the plagiarism checker which is Turnitin. We do not process all content that contains elements of plagiarism. If the manuscript contained plagiarism elements of more than 25% based on the results of the check, the manuscript will be sent back to the author for correction, then the author is required to send back proof of Turnitin plagiarism check results in accordance following the provisions.

Author Fees

  • There is no submission fee (Free Submission Charge).
  • For authors whose manuscripts are accepted and approved for publication, there will be a manuscript processing fee starting from editing, reviewing, and publishing of IDR 500,000. Payment information will be provided to the author via email.

Publication Ethics

The Journal of Health Law and Ethics is a peer-reviewed journal committed to maintaining and upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All articles that do not conform to the highest standards of publication ethics will be removed from publication at any time even after publication. This statement describes the ethical behaviour of all parties involved in the act of publishing articles in this journal, including authors, editor-in-chief, editorial board, peer reviewers, and publisher (Master of Law, Faculty of Law, Hang Tuah University). This statement is based on the COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
